Step Into The New Year at A2 Yoga

Happy New Year to all of you beautiful beings!
I truly hope you had an amazing Holiday and want to Thank You for being a part of A2 Yoga in 2009. May your travels around the sun in 2010 be the most auspicious year yet. Let’s step into the new year together.
New Class: Nia Yoga Flow
Capitalizing on the energized-but-relaxed feeling that Yoga Nia Flow Ana often follows a Nia workout, Ana’s Nia Yoga Flow combines a slightly shortened Nia routine with an all-levels Hatha Yoga practice designed to develop fluidity and strength in the spirit of Nia.
The yoga section of Nia Yoga Flow will always include upper body and abdominal work along with balance practice and some long holds of classic poses. Come discover how Nia and Yoga can flow together to create a stronger and more centered you.
Join us for this Nia Yoga Flow Class on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30 – 11:30am
2 Anusara Workshops with Katherine Schaefer
Katherine began practicing hatha yoga in 1993 and teaching in 1996.She was introduced to Anusara Yoga when she attended a workshop taught by Jamie Allison in 1999.
In 2001, after sustaining an injury that prevented her from practicing yoga Katherine was reintroduced to the method that ultimately led to the healing of her injury and the desire to become an Anusara teacher. Since then she has been a dedicated student of John Friend and the Anusara method.
Katherine became an affiliated Anusara teacher in 2003 and was certified in 2007. In addition to being a yoga teacher/therapist she is also a massage therapist, Reiki Master and Vedic Sidereal Astrologer. She has been blessed with some awesome teachers for whom she has much gratitude!
Katherine’s intention is to facilitate each student in unveiling their innate goodness, worthiness and Supreme nature by breaking through limitations and realizing their own unique power.
Katherine will be facilitating 2 upcoming workshops at A2 Yoga:
January 30, 2010 From 1:30 – 4pm “Yoga to the Rescue”
Yoga therapy for the lower body. This will include yoga therapy techniques for the feet, ankles, knees, hips, and lower back.
February 13, 2010 From 1:30 – 4pm “Yoga to the Rescue”
Yoga therapy for the upper body. This will include yoga therapy techniques for the hands, wrists, elbows shoulders, neck and upper back.
Cost: $40/each or $60/both

Kundalini Yoga with Trevor
What is Kundalini Yoga?
Kundalini Yoga is a dynamic, stimulating and consciousness altering experience. Breath, Mantra, Movement, and Internal Focus is mixed for an explosive and dynamic journey.
It is a physical and meditative discipline within the tradition of Yoga associated with the subdivision of hatha yoga.
Trevor’s Kundalini classes are great for beginners as well as advanced practitioners.
Who is Trevor?
Trevor’s is a 200 hour registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance and the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association.
Trevor has been practicing Kundalini Yoga for over 12 years and teaching since 2002. He has studied various forms of asana and enjoys the devotional aspects of the Inner Yogas. His deep love for Yogic Teachings has brought him to explore many teachers and traditions of Yoga.
In 2001 Trevor did an extensive one month Sadhana (spiritual practice) of Naad Yoga (sound yoga) in the temples of Southern India. He has lived in various Yogic Communities and has journeyed deep into the multiple layers of the Yogic Science.
His teaching style is fluent, none judgmental and humorous. His broad experience of Yoga gives him the ability to share yogic information from a variety of angels. He enjoys teaching so others can stimulate heightened awareness and experience deep relaxation and Unconditioned Awareness.
Currently Trevor is doing a formal study of Ayurveda and Classical Hatha Yoga.
Here’s where it gets really cool for you…
Between now and October 8th you can come in for 1 Free Kundalini Class. Be sure to take advantage of this A2 Yoga special to come in and welcome our newest teacher.
Classes are every Thursday from 8 – 9:30pm starting Thursday September 10th
Detox Flow Yoga with Deanna
Starting Monday September 14th you are invited to come in and join Deanna every Monday morning to cleanse and Detox your body.
This new class, through sequencing, will cleanse the internal organs, relieve bloating, fatigue and other physical ailments that are due to accumulated toxins in our bodies from our foods, alcohol, caffeine, sugar and other environmental stressors.
Take notice… the room will be heated to assist in the purging and detoxing of these unhealthy accumulated toxins.
And guess what…
Between now and October 5th you can come in for 1 Free Detox Flow Yoga Class. Be sure to take advantage of this A2 Yoga special.
And remember, beginners are always welcome to this new class.
Class times are every Monday from 9:30-10:30am.
Free Power Vinyasa
This Saturday September 12th at 4:30pm you are invited to join Ana as she guides you through this unique Power Vinyasa Class.
All you need to know is that this class is Free to everyone. Be sure to mark your calendar now!
A Friendly Reminder…

Ana and Jo have been preparing vigorously for the upcoming charity run taking place on Sunday October 4th. We will be running the 10K event.
What does that mean for you?
That means that we have put together Special Classes for you @ A2 Yoga in which we will be donating all proceeds to raise money for the charity.
Jo’s Special Fund Raising Vinyasa Class is being held this Thursday September 10th at 6:45pm.
We would love to have your support.

A2 Yoga Labor Day Weekend Yoga Class Schedule

Good News…We are open Labor Day Weekend!
Here’s the schedule…
Friday September 4th – All classes as normal
Saturday Sept. 5th – All classes as normal
** Free Power Yoga Class on Saturday @ 4:30
Sunday Sept. 6th – No Anusara Classes or Prenatal Classes
All other classes will resume as normal.
Monday Sept. 7th Labor Day – The following classes are the “Only” classes.
Nia – 9:30am with Ana
Vinyasa – 8:15pm with Jo
We wish you an awesome and safe Holiday Weekend.

World Renowned Yoga Teacher Simon Parks Comes To A2Yoga Sharing His Love For The Wonderful Practice Of Vinyasa Flow. Join Us On This Fantastic Journey!
Liquid Flow Candlelight Vinyasa – Friday May 8 from 6-8pm
Yoga to Restore Your Prana – A Candle Light Class – Enjoy a slowly developing, flowing sequence of postures that are restorative in nature, yet heart opening as well. Practice in a way that creates space in the joints and spine, and clams the nervous system.
The movements are similar to the way Tai-chi is practiced; slow methodical and meditative. We will work towards deep hip openers, liberating backbends, and quiet forward bends with restorative, supported inversions.
Surfing the Vinyasa Wave – Saturday Morning 10-12pm
Experience the latest evolution of Prana Vinyasa Flow: Dynamic Asana, Creative Flows, and Integrated Paranyama as a moving meditation that will tune and tone you from the inside out while giving you the tools for navigating life’s changes with grace, power, and confidence.
We will explore several vinyasa waves of multi-dimensional sequences-intelligently unfolding an evolution of movement meditation, fluid namaskars, backbends, arm balances and hip opening to understand the underlying flow of prana.
Body Enlightening- Saturday afternoon 4:30pm – 7:00pm
Experience a flowing blend of traditional Thai massage, partner yoga, and gravity-free bodywork. The sequence that we will practice as a group is easy to learn and very effective.
Also learn Yogic Flying, where a person is suspended from hands and feet while being assisted into yoga postures to create spinal freedom. Come alone or bring a friend to learn these amazingly fun and body enlightening moves!

A2 Yoga Now Offers A New Class!
Starting April 6 @ 5:30 a.m
Janice has enjoyed a personal Ashtanga Yoga practice since 2000.
She completed Teacher Trainings with Johnny Kest in 2001, David Swensen in 2003, Rafael Abrams in 2004 and Monju Jois in 2005. Supporting her continuing education she has participated in workshops with Shri K Pattabhi Jois, Sharath Rangaswamy, Matthew Darling, Ana Forest, Richard Freeman, Eileen Hall, Tias Little, and Tim Miller.
In support of her interest in the underlying condition of the body and Yoga, she attended the School of Orthopedic Massage & Body Works in 2005-2006 and has completed Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Reflexology, Shiatsu and Maniken building course work.
Janice traveled to India in 2006 to study with other teachers and enjoyed discovering some of the origins of Yoga.
Introducing Mysore Ashtanga to A2Yoga
We begin our early morning practice by greeting the sun with Suryaya Namasakra “Sun Salutations” to warm up the body, followed by standing, seated and finishing postures.
The early morning environment is quiet. The room is warm and lite with candles. If you are new to the Mysore practice or unsure about the specific sequence of postures, Janice will assist you.
After learning and practicing the Sun Salutations, students can learn more postures from Janice. Each time you practice Mysore Ashtanga, it is in a sequential order with focus on spinal alignment applying/practicing a one breath and one movement technique with vinyasa’s in between.
Please join us for your Yoga practice in the early morning on Tuesday’s arriving anytime between 5:30-7:30. You are all welcome.
Ashtanga Yoga is taught according to a traditional method called Mysore, named after the city in India where the most senior teacher, Sri. Pattabhis Jois resides and teaches.
Notice: A2 Yoga Parking Lot Construction – Class Schedule Change
As you have surely noticed by now, the parking lot needs some repairs. It is now time to give some love to our parking lot. A2Yoga is going to show that Love by having repairs done this month between the 27th and 30th of April.
Due to the nature of the repairs, we will not be able to use the parking lot or the front door for up to 4 days. The temporary new entrance will be the back door of the gold room. Enter from the grass closest to the street.
Carpooling would be a great idea, as well as riding your bike.
We are making the following adjustments to the schedule during this parking lot beautification. Please make note of these changes.
From April 27th – 30th all morning and afternoon classes are canceled.
The following classes will be available in the evenings:
Monday April 27th -
Pilates 5:45 – 6:30
Vinyasa II 8:15 – 9:30
Tuesday April 28th
Power Vinyasa 7:15 – 8:30
Wednesday April 29th
Power Yoga 7:15 – 8:30
Thursday April 30th
Vinyasa I 6:45 – 8:00
